DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:

Chiang Ching-Kuo's life from birth to death is basically an epitome of Chinese contemporary history; his road to central power, every history event is linked with each other and through these events we could almost get a peek into his heart and brain, of course we can't make any judgments. This documentary took us three years and across Taiwan, US, China, Hong Kong, and Russia, the immensity of this project was far more than what I'm capable of.
The reason why I was interested in making a documentary about him was that our lives now or the future, and whether we love or hate him, Chiang Ching-Kuo is closely connected to us; making him our subject allowed us to get close to the first hand information which allowed my friends and I to understand our situation and how the society evolve now. And this is also what we want to pass on to the audience.

Regards,

Tang Shiang-chu
